Learn how to make your own linocut prints in this workshop for complete beginners.

I believe anyone can learn linocut printmaking. You don't need an artistic background; I can provide example designs for you to use. In my workshop you’ll learn step-by-step how to make a linocut print in black ink. Prints can then be hand-coloured using watercolour when dry after the workshop if desired. You will use a variety of paper types and practice hand burnishing.

You’ll begin by drawing your own design or using one of the designs provided and transferring it to an A5 linocut block. As a group we’ll go through the stages of carving, inking and printing your block either by hand or using a small press. We'll talk about tools and techniques and you can ask as many questions as you like. Participants will leave the workshop with their linocut print and their lino block to continue making more at home if they wish.

All tools and materials are provided. The workshop is very hands-on, with everything explained in demonstrations as you go along in a supportive and friendly atmosphere.

There is free car parking on site and a toilet in the studio.

Please note the following when booking onto this workshop:

  • This venue is accessible but please be aware doorways into the studio and toilet are narrow. Please contact me in advance to discuss this further if needed.
  • Physical tickets for the workshop are not sent out. Your confirmation email acts as your ticket. You will be sent a reminder email approximately one week before your booked workshop date.
